Dr. Andrew Krouner is a board-certified ophthalmologist known for his compassionate, thoughtful approach to patient care and his extensive experience treating complex eye conditions. His clinical interests include glaucoma, neuro-ophthalmology, pediatric eye care, general ophthalmology, and acute and emergency ophthalmic conditions.

Guided by the philosophy of an early mentor who taught that being a physician is a privilege, Dr. Krouner brings genuine empathy and respect to every patient interaction. He is deeply committed to caring not only for his patients, but also for their families—taking the time to listen, explain, and guide them through every stage of care.

Dr. Krouner’s background in acute and emergency ophthalmology allows him to manage both routine and urgent eye conditions with confidence and precision. Patients value his ability to remain calm and focused in complex situations, while clearly explaining diagnoses and treatment options in a way that is easy to understand.

His wide-ranging experience across multiple subspecialties enables him to provide comprehensive eye care tailored to patients of all ages—from children with vision concerns to adults managing chronic or sudden eye conditions.

Distinguished Education, Military Service, and Leadership

Dr. Krouner grew up just outside Boston, Massachusetts, and graduated cum laude from Harvard University. He earned his medical degree from George Washington University before serving as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy.

During his military service, Dr. Krouner completed an internal medicine internship at Bethesda Naval Hospital, where he later completed his ophthalmology training. He was entrusted with leading an acute care clinic at Portsmouth Naval Hospital and went on to serve as an ophthalmologist there for three years. During this time, he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Commander and became board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. Dr. Krouner was also awarded an Assistant Professorship at the Uniformed Services University, where he trained future physicians serving in the Navy, Army, and Air Force—further reflecting his dedication to excellence in medicine and education.

Committed to Ongoing Care and Community

Following his military service, Dr. Krouner practiced ophthalmology in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Albany, New York, gaining additional experience caring for diverse patient populations. He is excited to join the team at Precision Eye and Laser and to make the Hudson Valley his home. Dr. Krouner is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the New York State Ophthalmological Society, staying engaged with the latest advances and best practices in eye care.
