He specializes in minimally invasive cataract surgery and advanced laser vision correction. He has brought advancements like premium lenses and dropless surgery to Dutchess County, changing the standard of care for vision across the county. He brings over 20 years of experience as an ophthalmologist, starting with a rigorous residency in ophthalmology and ophthalmic surgery at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Newark. He achieved Board Certification from the American Board of Ophthalmology, with performance in the top 10 percent. It has been Dr. David Steinberg’s commitment to stay up to date on the most current advances in eye care through a program of continuing education not only for himself but also for his staff.

Dr. David Steinberg provides all learning materials and financial support so that his technicians become certified through the International Joint Commission for Allied Health Professionals of Ophthalmology. He can commonly be found in the office before and after hours working personally with technicians to bolster their skills.
Since starting his practice, Dr. David Steinberg has grown his patient base from 0 to over 40,000. He currently personally performs over 1,000 surgeries per year and specializes in personalized care. He understands that not everyone uses their eyes in the same way, and he takes the time to personally tailor surgical outcomes with his patients to align to their lifestyle. Dr. David Steinberg grew up in the Hudson Valley. He graduated from Clarkstown North High School in New City as a national merit scholar. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in biochemistry at Rice University in Houston, Texas. While at Rice, he was awarded the Roy Scholarship for Excellence in Science. He then received his medical education at SUNY Stony Brook on Long Island. During medical school, he was elected to the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society, which recognizes the top 10 percent of medical students nationwide. From there he proceeded to internship in internal medicine at Danbury Hospital in Connecticut.
Dr. David Steinberg began his private practice of ophthalmology with the Gailey Eye Clinic in Bloomington, Illinois. As part of one of the oldest and largest eye centers in the Midwest, Dr. David Steinberg perfected his skills in a variety of procedures, including cataract and laser eye surgery. In 2002, Dr. David Steinberg returned to the Hudson Valley region with his wife Victoria, a Wappingers Falls native, and his children Kenny and Bradley.
